Cathy Parker

University at Albany

Cathy Parker is the Associate Director of Counseling in the Office of Career and Professional Development at the University at Albany. She oversees the counseling staff which includes 3 professionals and 3 graduate students. Her group is responsible for career counseling of all students at the University, as well as, the assessment activities, Strengths for Sophomores, and the Peer Career Advising program.  She has been a member of SUNYCDO since 2008 and has been fortunate enough to attend the annual conference every year.  She has also been able to present at many of them.  Cathy holds a BS in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MS in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY New Paltz.  Before switching to a career in Higher Education she gained over 20 years’ experience working in the computer industry.  She is a certified Life Coach and a certified Gallup Strengths Coach.  She also holds a certification in MBTI.  Cathy has been at the University at Albany for 10 years.
