With 12 + years of service to the State University of New York, Sim’s professional career started at his alma mater, as the Assistant Director/Internship Coordinator of the University at Albany Career Development Center. After two years in the profession, Sim became the Assistant Director for the Hudson Valley Community College Center for Careers & Employment in Troy, New York. In January 2013, Sim relocated to the Mohawk Valley to accept a promotional opportunity as the Director of Career Services at SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) in Utica, NY. Through setting the vision, strategic direction, and goals for the Office of Career Services, Sim’s responsibilities include providing all facets of career services to both undergraduate and graduate students seeking internship, employment, and graduate/professional school opportunities. Sim is a member of his institution’s SUNY Applied Learning team and completed a capstone project on, “The Benefits of Experiential Learning in MBA Programs”, which is up for journal publication.

A proud five time graduate of the SUNY system, Sim’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling, Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling, and Master of Science in Educational Administration & Policy Studies – Higher Education Leadership, all from the University at Albany, State University of New York. He also completed his MBA at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, and is on track to complete his dissertation by September 2017 toward my Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Sim is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, is Meyers Briggs Type Indicator Qualified via the Center for Application of Psychology Type, received his Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) Certification via the National Career Development Association, and obtained an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell University as well as a Business Management Professional Certificate from Rutgers University. A proud graduate of the Dale Carnegie Institute, Sim enjoys presenting to individuals on topics relevant to career services as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Past and present affiliations include memberships in the National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE), Eastern Association of Colleges & Employers (EACE), National Career Development Association (NCDA), Central New York Recruiting Consortium (CNYRC), and the Capital Region Career Consortium, which he co-chaired from 2005-2007.
